Il a obtenu son diplôme universitaire dans le domaine de la gestion des TIC. Il est le Directeur exécutif de l'ONG récemment crée Social Innovation for Development Lab, et bénévole pour plusieurs associations, principalement pour l’Organisation Anti Corruption-Cameroon dans laquelle il supervise le projet d’E-Activism. Nous allons commencer à utiliser la plate-forme Ushahidi pour les élections à venir au Cameroun. L'Union européenne et certaines ONG (JADE, Un monde à venir, Transparency International-Cameroon avec l'appui technique de Anti Corruption Organisation-Cameroun et du Social Innovation for Development Lab). Après plusieurs tentatives, les discussions entre tous les acteurs sur l’utilisation d’Ushahidi est enfin fini par un accord .Ils ont convenu d'utiliser Ushahidi pour les prochaines élections municipales et législatives le 30 septembre 2013. (Cameroonelection.org).Cela implique que nous aurons:

• 2000 observateurs pour environ de 5 millions d'électeurs
• Une communication par les médias et des affiches dans tous les pays
• Une équipe de 15 bénévoles pour coordonner l'utilisation de la plate-forme Ushahidi
• un bureau avec internet (repas compris).

Nous avons déjà commencé avec la formation de bénévoles et elle continue à se tenir tous les jeudi et vendredi de 9 h à 15 h chaque semaine jusqu'au jour des élections Dans les bureaux de Transparency international, situé à la Nouvelle route Bastos, Yaoundé, +237 97 16 10 72 dites Wolves volonteers. Qui pourraient être volontaires?

• Les enseignants /formateurs
• communicateurs/écrivains
• Développeurs de logiciels
• Les traducteurs (anglais/français)
• Concepteurs, artistes graphistes
• Données scientifiques, chercheurs,Mappers d'images tuilées OpenStreetMap (ou autres)
• Crisismappers/Ushahidi expérience virtuelle

Comment pouvez vous vous inscrire?

Loading... Il s'agit d'un grand défi pour le premier essai d'Ushahidi dans notre région, nous travaillons sur elle une seule main (comme un bénévole sans aucune rémunération). Nous avons vraiment besoin de soutien dans tous les aspects du déploiement, spécifiquement:

• Gérer la formation des bénévoles
• Gérer la communication
• Maintenir la plate-forme, installer et essayer les plugins ( cameroonelection.org)
• Enregistrer les observateurs sur la plate-forme
• Localiser des observateurs et des bureaux de scrutin sur la carte (OpenStreetMap)
• Organiser le comptage parallèle avec FrontlineSMS

Ce déploiement n'aura un impact durable que si la société civile est laissé avec la capacité de mener de tels exercices dans l'avenir et le public est déjà familiarisé avec le concept de participation du public. Nous nous attendons à ce que les répercussions de cette initiative se fassent sentir non seulement dans les futures élections mais dans d'autres responsabilités civiles après les élections au Cameroun et dans plusieurs pays voisins, comme le Tchad, la RCA, le Congo, le Gabon. ********** Jean Brice is a programmer and activist involved in many roles and development projects. He earned his university degree in Management ICT. He’s the executive Director of the NGO recently created The Social Innovation for Development Lab, and volunteer for several Organisation, mainly for the Anti Corruption Organisation-Cameroon leading the e-activism project. We will start to use the Ushahidi platform for the upcoming Elections in Cameroon. The European Union and some NGOs (JADE, Un Monde à Venir, Transparency International-Cameroon with the technical support of Anti-Corruption Organisation Cameroon and the Social Innovation for Development Lab)have agreed to use the Ushahidi for the next Municipal and Legislative elections on September 30, 2013. (cameroonelection.org) On several occasions, the discussions between all the actors in using the ushahidi finally ended up in an agreement. This implies that we will have:

• 2000 observers for 5 million voters
• Media communication and posters in all the country
• A team of 15 volunteers to coordinate the use of the Ushahidi platform
• An office with internet (meal include)

We already started with the training of volunteers and it continues to take place every Thursday and Friday from 9 am to 3 pm every week until the day of elections into the Transparency International Office, Locate at Nouvelle route Bastos, Yaoundé, +237 97 16 10 72 Say Wolves Volunteers. Who should volunteer?

• Teachers/ trainers
• Communicators/writers
• Software developers
• Translators (english/french)
• Designers, artists, graphics
• Data scientists
• Researchers
• Mapperss (OpenStreetMap or other)
• Crisismappers/Ushahidi experience
• Virtual

It is a great challenge for the first try of Ushahidi in our region, We are working on it as a volunteer without any remuneration. We really need support in all the aspect of the deployment please, specifically:

• To manage the training of volunteers
• To manage communication
• To Maintain the platform, install and try plugins (cameroonelection.org)
• To register observers on the platform
• To Locate observers and polling stations on the map (OpenStreetMap) (note- have you reached out to this community)
• To organize the Parallel vote tabulation with FrontlineSMS

This deployment will have a lasting sustainable impact as civil society is left with the capacity to carry such exercises in the future and the public is already familiarized with the concept of public participation. We expect the impact of this project to be felt not only in future elections but in other civil responsibilities after elections in Cameroon and several countries neighbor like Chad, CAR, Congo, Gabon.
